Aroma: Made from fine Sumatra-type Benzoin resin, this oil is has a balsamic-soft, vanilla-like and satisfying aroma.

Aromatherapy properties: Aphrodisiac, warming, uplifting, revitalizing, and elevating. This aroma creates a safe refuge for people recovering from a life crisis and depression.

How to use it: Add to a diffuser for a long-lasting, warm aroma climate.

The balsams are most commonly used in the “background” of an Aromatherapy blends.

well with: Spices, floral and oriental bases, the aphrodisiac oils – Rose, Jasmine, Sandalwood, Frankincense – and cypress, juniper, lemon. Blend with Ylang Ylang to support its vanilla-like qualities. Great fixative, that binds other more volatile aromas and makes them last longer.

History: In India, this aroma is sacred to the Brahma-Shiva-Vishnu triad, and it is used to deter devils during rice-harvesting ceremonies in Malaysia. Ingredient of the traditional “Friar’s Balsam”, used to relieve problems of the lungs, poor circulation and muscular problems.

Cistus Labdanum - This is the scent of the Mediterranean.
Copaiba Balsam – The oil of Copaiba balsam has a very warm, soft, honey-like note.
Elemi – This resin oil is more light, fresh and lemon-like than other balsamic aromas.

Myrrh - One of the oldest known perfumery materials, already in use as an incense and embalming ingredient in ancient Egypt.
