About Lemon
Lemon is known to have been used by the Romans as a treatment for stomach upsets and also as a breath freshener. The British Navy have also used it in the past to aid the prevention of scurvy.
Lemon essential oil has many different properties, but it is probably best known for it ability for fighting infectious illness, mainly by its ability to stimulate the body´s white corpuscles which naturally defend our body.
Uses of Lemon Essential Oil
Lemon essential oil can also be used effectively as a treatment of gonorrhoea, syphilis, malaria, typhoid and tuberculosis, although it should only be used for treating such ailments by a qualified doctor or aromatherapist.
Other ailment which lemon essential oil can be a good form of treatment for are flu, bronchitis and gastric infections. Lemon can also aid in reducing temperature.
Lemon essential oil is also a good form of treatment for cuts and other wounds to the body. In addition to this, lemon is also haemostatic which helps the body to stop bleeding.
Lemon essential oil is also a good tonic for clearing the head after a hard days work, if you are just mentally exhausted or even if you are just suffering from a cold. It can also work well in providing energy when your body is aching.
Lemon also has the ability to counteract acidity in the body, this can help the body in treating such cases as gastric acidity which can lead to pain and ulcers. Arthritis, rheumatism and gout are other ailments which involve too much acidity. Lemon also works well in treating ailments of the digestive system including the liver and pancreas.
Lemon essential oil can also be used as a treatment for the removal of warts, verrucae and corns.
Suggested Uses of Lemon Essential Oil
Add two to three drops of lemon essential oil onto a cleaning cloth and when you clean around your home with this duster, it will help to disinfect and deodorise your rooms.
Add two to three drops of lemon essential oil into an air spray or add two to three drops into some water on your oil burner, to stop the spread of infection around your home.
For the removal of warts, verrucae and corns, mix two drops of lemon essential oil to ten drops of cider vinegar and apply a dab of the mixture onto the affected spot only. It should then be covered by a plaster through the day and removed through the night. Repeat daily until the infection has gone.
Lemon essential oil should be applied and used with care.

Lemon essential oil can cause irritation of the skin, always use diluted preferably to an amount of 1% or less when applied to the skin.
